Corrective orthosis for the treatment of congenital clubfoot.

A new design proposal for the Ponseti corrective orthosis in children with congenital clubfoot has been developed. The technology consists of a single-valve splint made up of two pieces joined by a pivot on each side of the foot. The pivot, located at the ankle joint, allows the orthosis to articulate and permits free dorsiflexion movement in one direction. Additionally, the splint features a system for adjusting the degree of foot deviation with a gear mechanism that repositions the foot to the correct treatment position.

The splint has a system for adjusting the degree of foot deviation with a gear that repositions it to the treatment position, allowing the position of the feet to be maintained without the need for a central bar.

Comfort for the patient during crawling and sleeping.
With the use of the proposed splint, the risk of recurrence is only 4% compared to the use of the splint in the manner not indicated after the Ponseti procedure, whose risk of recurrence is 80%.
