Acrylic bone cement kit

Acrylic bone cement kit
Invention Patent No. NC2018/0004814 Colombia (Granted)

A new design proposal for the Ponseti corrective orthosis in children with congenital clubfoot has been developed. The technology consists of a single-valve splint made up of two pieces joined by a pivot on each side of the foot. The pivot, located at the ankle joint, allows the orthosis to articulate and permits free dorsiflexion movement in one direction. Additionally, the splint features a system for adjusting the degree of foot deviation with a gear mechanism that repositions the foot to the correct treatment position.

Acrylic bone cement, Biocompatibility, Osseointegration, Antimicrobial properties, Exothermic reaction
The key differentiator of this technology is the use of innovative components such as chitosan, graphene oxide, and alkali comonomers, which improve biocompatibility, mechanical performance, and provide osteoprotective and antimicrobial properties. Furthermore, it reduces the exothermic polymerization temperature, minimizing the risk of thermal necrosis, making it safer and more efficient for prosthesis fixation and bone defect repair.
  • Promotes bone formation
  • It reduces the risk of infections
  • It ensures a more stable fixation of prostheses
  • Lower rates of surgical reinterventions
