barrier coating made from zirconium oxide (ZrO2) mixed with silicon oxide (SiO2) and doped with a rare earth ion, known as erbium (Er), which exhibits enhanced optical properties that are complemented by the thermal behavior of a nanostructured zirconia stabilized at room temperature, allowing the material to become a sensor of thermal variables.

The material has improved optical properties making it a sensor of thermal variables, in addition to being a barrier coating.
It allows and facilitates the diagnosis of operational variables such as surface temperature in closed thermal systems, detachment of ceramic layers, without the use of electrical cables and using an optical fiber.
