Beneficiaries of MISTI Seed Funds 2022
These are the recipients of the Seed Funds grant!
The annual Seed Funds event, held between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Reddi, which aims to support Colombian researchers in developing their research projects in any of the areas prioritized by the Valle del Lili Foundation and TQ, has announced this year’s recipients.
Each year, the Seed Fund program, run by MISTI at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in partnership with Reddi, Fundación Valle del Lili , and TQ , opens its call for proposals to sponsor research projects in specific areas. Last year, the call focused on the health sector and benefited students from the National University of Colombia and the University of San Buenaventura in Cali.
This call for proposals, which is also held in countries such as Chile, Mexico, France, Germany, among others, resulted in a total of 90 international research projects by professors receiving more than $1.9 million in funding in 2022.
The winners representing our country in the 2022 Seed Fund are:
The San Buenaventura University of Cali, with the project: “Prediction model that uses machine learning, for the postoperative results of patients with preoperative anemia who undergo major non-cardiac surgery” led by Professor Susana Medina Gordillo.
These projects each received a prize of more than $20,000, as they met the requirements by being research for the health sector and areas prioritized by the Valle del Lili Foundation and TQ.
In this way, the MISTI Seed Fund, together with Reddi, continues to promote new collaborations between professors and students of MIT and their counterparts in universities and research institutions in Colombia.
