Gold Nanosensor for Sucrose
Gold Nanosensor for Sucrose
Invention patent EP3567008 and EP3567008B1 (Active).
Invention patent US11413683B2 (Active).

This device utilizes the Surface Energy Transfer (SET) phenomenon between fluorescein and functionalized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) to enable the selective measurement of UDP-glucose and ADP-glucose, thereby indirectly determining the sucrose/starch concentration in the solution. Furthermore, the method for synthesizing the AuNPs and functionalizing them with polymeric ligands to obtain the nanocomposite (nanosensor) is presented.

Agriculture, Measurement of variables in plants, Food industry
The technology allows for the precise measurement of intracellular sucrose and starch concentration in plants, in a nano-mole range; it increases the measurement resolution versus traditional measurement methods in a milli-mole range.
  • In the food industry, it allows for more accurate quality control and measurement of sugars and starches in raw materials.
  • Optimizes sucrose and starch production processes in plants
  • In agriculture, it allows the development of new strains with greater production potential and biodegradability.
  • It allows the development of biosensors for the detection of different intracellular markers
